USF Latino Scholarship

The Scholarships and Diversity Office at the University of South Florida Foundation is looking for potential students, who have been admitted to USF, for their 2018-2019 Latino Scholarship.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Graduate from an accredited high school or community college in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk, Manatee, Pasco, Hernando, or Sarasota
  • Demonstrate financial need as documented by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Strong consideration will be given to students who are: fluent in Spanish; first generation in their family to attend college; from diverse ethnic background.
  • Be an incoming freshman

This scholarship is for $2,000/year and is renewable for up to ten semesters. The deadline for the application is Friday, April 6th; however, if a student shows sincere interest, they may be able to extend this for them.

George W. Jenkins Memorial Scholarship

  • 2 scholarships of up to $2,500 each will be awarded for vocational or college courses
  • Students must be the child of a Publix Super Markets employee employed for at least six months prior to submitting this application. (Must note store # or corporate department for verification and attach a letter of confirmation from the Publix supervisor who oversees the employee).
  • Selections will be based on two things –
  1. Financial need (student’s SAR (student aid report) or parent’s 2017 W9’s or
    2017 tax information showing adjusted gross income must be attached to
    this application.  (since this was not part of our online process we are allowing  2017 tax forms)
  2. AND the content of the general and additional essays required.

 Must be postmarked, or a counselor can deliver here, by Feb. 23.

ATTENTION SENIORS! The Polk Education Foundation online scholarship is now available!

Minimum criteria:

  1. Be a Polk County public or charter high school senior;
  2. Be on track to graduate, having passed the Algebra 1 EOC (or PERT concordant score) and having passed the FSA Reading (or concordant score on ACT or SAT);
  3. Have completed the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and have received your finalized SAR (Student Aid Report) to attach to the printed copy of your application.

Use the General essay to provide personal financial need information, college and career plans, and any other information you feel would help in the selection process. Things like medical problems, divorce, and special family situations are all considered when awarding scholarships. Honors, awards, clubs, volunteer time, leadership roles and extracurricular activities may be included in your essay; Since scholarship decisions will be decided on the information contained in this essay, make sure to include ANY information in the general essay that the specific scholarships ask about—AND know that some of the scholarships will require a separate essay on a specific topic.

The online application will close at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 6. In order to be considered for scholarships, students must:

  1. Submit the online application by noon on February 6
  2. Print a hard copy of the application
  3. Include both student and parent signatures on the signature page
  4. Attach a copy of the SAR (Student Aid Report), which is generated from the FAFSA.
  5. The application packet is due to Jamie Burris, in office next to athletic director, no later than 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 8.

The MacDill Officers’ Spouses’ Club 2017-18 Scholarships for High School Seniors

The MOSC Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding military dependents in the MacDill Community by offering merit-based scholarships for graduating High School Seniors and Military Spouses.  Graduating High School Senior dependents and Military Spouses of all ranks of active duty, retired or deceased members of any branch of the US Armed Services are encouraged to apply.

The Scobee Scholarship was created in honor of Dick Scobee, the Commander of the Challenger Space Shuttle, and is awarded annually by the Florida Association for the Gifted, Inc. (FLAG). Two $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded to an eligible male and female gifted student interested in pursuing studies in the areas of math/science/technology. The deadline to submit the application is June 30, 2017. You must be in the 2018 graduating class. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Suncoast Chapter

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Suncoast Chapter offers scholarships to graduating high school seniors and to college/university students who reside within the SUNCOAST REGION that includes the State of Florida, the State of Louisiana, the Mobile–Pensacola Market area and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico(please see attached).

Students MUST plan to attend or currently attend a four-year college/university with a declared major in Communications/Broadcasting with a concentration in television in the SUNCOAST REGION. Any other major will automatically disqualify your application.

Lakeland Police Department’s Do the Right Thing scholarship

Each year we award deserving students with scholarship money to attend college. We typically award two (2) $750 scholarships but we have been fortunate the past two years and were able to award more. Last year we awarded 3 $1,000 scholarships and we are on target to do the same this year. I have attached the application in the event you did not have it. Please make sure that your students who apply understand that there is a deadline and it will be adhered to without question.
